Happy FIFTH Birthday!

FIVE years ago, this little dude made his way in to our lives. I can't believe how many years have gone by! As much as I'm sad to see the time pass, I sure am happy to be done with four!

The very first picture of our newly minted five year old. Sleepy eyes and all.

Cake batter pancakes (I know, they sounded terrible but were surprisingly mild!).

He was SUPER excited to wear the birthday crown and to sit in the birthday chair.

Gift from Eli: alien legos! ...and more legos from Deacon.

Playing with his gift from Mommy & Daddy, a Leap Pad.
We had a great day celebrating, singing and hanging out. Grandma flew in from New Jersey and sat with Turner for two hours building his alien legos. I made the requested birthday dinner of meatballs, pasta with sauce and cheesy bread. If all that wasn't enough, there was even ice cream cake! In total, he blew out candles three times (did I mention Grandma brought cupcakes from Crumbs?).

It wouldn't be an awesome Baggett day without some chaos. So, we called the fire department. Really, we had to. Around 8pm the detector went off saying "carbon monoxide detected." Weird, because we'd had the windows opened all day. John replaced the batteries and we went on our merry way to bed. The alarm goes off again and, not one to mess with gas leaks (thanks, CHENG) we ended up calling the fire department. I'm not sure why, but we thought maybe they'd show up in the captains car with just a guy or two...WRONG! Full truck, fire fighters in bunker gear and am EMT. Carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer so they took it seriously and I'm thankful they did! After that scare, there was nothing detected in the house. We'll be replacing that detector tomorrow! I would have PANICKED if John wasn't home!
Needles to say, I won't be sleeping tonight!

The Last Day of FOUR!

I tear up looking at this. I can't believe in just hours, he'll be FIVE!

Can you tell he's excited? He's been talking about being 5 since he was 3.

A Quick Trip: Washington D.C.

I started this post on 8/15...it's now the 30th! Yikes!

Here are pictures from our super quick trip to Washington, D.C. We'll definitely be going
again!

The Summer I Drove...a lot!

I knew this summer was going to be an adventure, but I had no idea I'd drive over 2,000 miles! Luckily, my dad did an 800 mile leg with me (over night from our house in VA to FL). It was exhausting and to say I was happy to come home (to a super dusty house and a fried modem) is putting it lightly! We had a great time seeing family and friends but there really is nothing like being in your own bed at night. On top of coming home, we're back together with Daddy again. He was gone for three months for his "learn to be a captain" school.

We hung out with cousins...

Celebrated birthdays...

Ran races...

Let Deacon indulge in the finer things in life...

Soaked in lots of pool time...

And outdoor tub time...

We enjoyed water hoses...

And more cousin love...

Played with Florida bugs...

And went fishing for the first time...

We ate lollipops and held squid...at the same time..

And did a lot of hanging out with grandparents...

The craziest part is we grew...

And grew....

And grew...

What a busy summer! It's not over yet, we still have Turner's birthday to go!

Childhood Milestone

About a week ago Turner insisted he had a loose tooth. Seeing that he's only 4, I blew it off for a few days with a "Uh, huh! I see." On the third day of his insistence, I bent down all excited and tested out the tooth. Sure enough, it was loose!

The next few days were spent explaining why teeth fall out, that the process is painless and that his adult teeth will come in now. We even watched videos on Brain Pop, Jr. to make him feel better.

Within a few days it was "very waggly." While I was out at the store, Turner asked my mom for a piece of gum and his first baby tooth came out quickly and painlessly.
I'm still in shock that he lost his first tooth!

Buh bye baby tooth!

Turner insisted we write the Tooth Fairy a letter. He told me exactly what to write.

The 3rd Child

A year ago, the most incredible day of my life took place and this little boy joined our family.
(photos from my fabulous friend Christy)

The feeling I get after looking at this sweet baby is the same a year later.  He is an absolute angel (and I hate saying that!), and a joy to have (I hate saying that, too). Really, after a complete anxiety attack when I found out I was pregnant, he gave me nothing to fret over.

Deacon James is sweet, loving, calm, but assertive. He has learned, in is one year, that to be heard in this family, you have to be loud. He's also learned that life might be rough but he's loved.

I can't believe this third boy is mine to raise. He is still waking at weird hours of the night, but I smile (after ample coffee) because my heart is so full.

Happiest of birthdays, little man! I can't wait to see what the future holds!

Deacon is my baby.

My baby is ONE!

We Made It!

The big boys, around 7 this morning.
1,158 miles later and the help of my Dad, we're in Florida. Impromptu, trip: month two
begins now.

...right after I go to sleep.
